Auckland Conventions wraps up year on high note

Published Saturday 22 October 2016

Auckland Conventions Venues & Events will end 2016 on a high note, following a successful year that included hosting over 700 events that drew 355,000 people from around New Zealand and overseas.

Some of this year’s major events included the popular Auckland Seafood Festival, the global tradeshow Convene, the fabulous New Zealand Fashion Week and the summertime Auckland on Water Boat Show at the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre; and Festival for the Future, the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists conference and Semi-Permanent forum at Aotea Centre.

With New Zealand’s largest portfolio of venues available to clients, Auckland Conventions was well placed to meet demand for popular annual events, as well as requests for new conferences, functions and events.

“Our ANZ Viaduct Events Centre held more than 240 events, enjoyed by over 140,000 people. This stunning waterfront venue continues to be a popular location for some of our country’s most diverse, creative and dynamic events,” says Auckland Conventions Venues & Events Director Mohamed Mansour.

“It’s flexible and versatile spaces enable event organisers, supported by our great team, to transform any space. We were also pleased to open a new function space within the venue, the Rakino Room, in response to demand for more intimate events.

“Our goal is to provide our clients with  ‘one experience’. Corporates appreciate the opportunity to provide a complete end-to-end package to their staff, clients and delegates. For example, people attending a conference at Aotea Centre during the day are able to stroll across the lively Aotea Square to attend a show at the iconic Civic Theatre after the day’s events,” he says.

Mr Mansour adds that 2017 is already looking busy with Graduation ceremonies and large conferences scheduled for the first part of the year.
